Highlights

Our Explore Nepal Tour is an eventful 11-day package that brings you close to all of Nepal’s cherished cities.  Each stop is remarkably different from the one before and is special in its own way.  We’ll start off in Kathmandu, visiting three ancient Newari kingdoms, as well as several UNESCO World Heritage sites.

We’ll check out the Buddhist Swayambunath Temple, one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal (over 1500 years old!). The temple offers an incredible panoramic view of Kathmandu.  Next, we go to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist shrines in the world.  Here we can see monks and devotees circumnavigating the stupa. Then, to Pasupatinath Temple, the most famous Hindu temple in the country.  You can see sadhus (holy men) chatting and wandering around ascrematory processions take place.  Kathmandu Durbar Square is an ancient palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom.  The next day, we head to Patan Durbar Square, located at center of Lalitpur.  The main attraction is the ancient Newari palace where the Malla Kings lived. Then to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the plaza in front of the royal palace of the old Bhaktapur Kingdom. Both places are architectural marvels.

The following day we head to Pokhara, taking a break on the way there for an adventurous whitewater rafting excursion.  Take your time in the evening to walk along the refreshing lakeside path.  The next day we’ll visit some famous destinations around Pokhara, which may include Bindawasini Temple, David's Falls, Gupteswar Cave, Seti Gorge, and others.

We take a scenic drive to Lumbini, where Gautama Buddha was born. Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in Lumbini some 2500 years ago. It is one of the most iconic places in Nepal and given its historical and religious importance, it remains a beloved place in our country.

Our final destination is Chitwan National Park, one of the finest wildlife reserves in Asia. There are more than 43 species of mammals, over 450 species of birds, and more than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles in the reserve.  In Chitwan, we'll take a ride on the back of an elephant to see the countless animal species found in the area.  After the elephant ride, we’ll take a canoe ride through the murky river, keeping our eyes peeled for the elusive Bengal tiger.  We'll also learn about the local ethnic groups in the area, particularly the Tharu.  Afterwards, we head back to Kathmandu for a farewell dinner.  Shikhar Adventure arranges the tour with complete management. Please, feel free to contact us for more detailed information.
