Jomsom is the Districts Headquarter of Mustang where is small airport in the bank of Kaligandaki River. After walking along the Kaligandaki River bed with strong blowing wind, we reach to Kagbini village. Kagbini is the romantic fortress village with its medieval buildings and terracotta Buddhist figures, you are in the very edge of the Tibetan plateau, and can go north in to Upper Mustang. After the Kagbini village we ascend to the Muktinath via Jharkot and Ranipouwa village. Muktinath is 3760 meters from the sea label, and it is famous for Hindu and Buddhist people as the source of mystic Shaligram, a stone ammonite fossils found in the Kaligandaki gorge. It is most important religious site in the Himalaya and ever since the arrival of the road, a pilgrim boomtown. A priest will show you around the Vishnu temple, with its 108 waterspouts and its shrines sheltering a tiny perpetual natural gas flame hidden half underground beside a little spring-a particularly holy combination of the earth, air, fire and water.
