Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek

After you take breakfast, we’ll brief you on our upcoming adventure and then take you on a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu, including several UNESCO World Heritage sites. You can spend the rest of the day preparing for your upcoming trek.

Today we leave early morning from Kathmandu for our trek classical to Everest base camp. We drive to Bhandar 280km. through the beautiful Nepalese village and passing the Jiri Village also known as Switzerland of Nepal. Driving through the hilly road about 8/9 hours takes you to Bhandar. Overnight at Guesthouse.

The first day trekking following the footstep of Tenjing & Hillary is the journey of excitement. We start our hike early in the morning after breakfast. The first part of the trail is gradually down passing with some village and grassy trail. When we complete our three hour trekking we will reach our lunch spot after crossing the hanging suspension bridge in Kinja River. We continue ascend three hour to reach at Sete. Today begins with a long but it is gradual climb to the Lamjura pass at 3530m first three hour. There you have lunch at top of the lamjura pass. In this trail often snow in winter or with flowering rhododendrons in the spring. The pass is the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar, where you have good lunch stop. After then we will continue down to beautiful Sherpa village called Junbesi at 2670m. Overnight at guesthouse.

We start our trekking with pine and junifer forest after the breakfast at junibesi. After couple of hour we can glance Mt. Everest in Fareast with smoke and in a right far down we can see airstrip at Phaplu and the district headquarters and small market at Salleri. We continue walking in pine forest and cross Rigmo khola. Rigmo village is our lunch spot for today. Rigmo is the main juction to go Everest Base Camp trekking. After lunch we continue to our destination through steep trail. The trail is full of donkey caring goods for trekkers. After two hours we will reach at the top of hill which is called Taksindo. The trail continues descending to the Dudh Koshi River about three hour passing several Sherpa villages, terraced fields and forests. After spending few minutes and having a cup of tea at the bottom and we continue walk crossing the suspension bridge of Dudhkoshi River. Gradually climbing, we reach at Bupsa for our lunch. After having lunch continue up to Kharikhola for our night stay. Overnight at guesthouse.

Today we start a day with a climb towards Rai and Sherpa villages. The trail includes walking inside the forest having lot of chances to see some wildlife like Langur, dear and many species of birds. In the clear day we can see many snow capped mountain from the trail and flying aircraft in Khumbu valley to Lukla airport. After six hour trekking we reach our destination. Overnight at Guesthouse.

We will continue a hiking from Puiyan to a ridge at 2800 meters, before a gradual ascent to the final ridge, where we descend to Surke- the birth place of the first Nepali lady submitter of Mt. Everest, Pasang Lhamo Sherpa. We reach at Phakding after crossing the Chaurikharka, Chhiplung, Thadokoshi and Ghat village. We hike about 7 hours in total for today. Overnight at Guesthouse.

After breakfast, we head to Namche Bazaar. The path leads us across several suspension bridges, while enjoying spectacular views of Thamserku. Following the Dudh Koshi River bank, we reach Monjo and officially enter Sagarmatha National Park. We continue along the river bank and eventually ciimb in altitude. We cross the highest suspension bridge of the Everest region, and again trek higher. We catch our first peek of Mt. Everest and continue to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in a guest house.

Today is our acclimatization day. We must take time to let our bodies adjust to the difference in altitude, as the air is thinner here. We take a short day hike up to Sagarmatha National Park Museum and Khumjung Village. From the museum, we can see a perfect view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and many more Himalayan peaks. Afterwards, we explore Namche Bazaar, a major trade center in the Khumbu region, densely populated by Sherpa people as well as trekkers who have finished or are preparing for the various Everest region treks. There is much to explore in the streets of Namche Bazaar. Overnight in guest house.

After taking breakfast, we head out on today’s journey. Soon after departing, we pass the museum again and enjoy the views. After Phungi Thanga, we reach a junction, where we hike up the steep trail (continuing the EBC path). The rhododendron and pine forests surrounding us are beautiful. After a couple more hours, we arrive at Tengboche. The sunset behind Mt. Everest from this little village is something you will never forget. Overnight at guest house.

Today will be a memorable day. We will move above the tree line, and feel like we are truly in the mountains. First though, we pass through diverse forests, enjoying the views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. After crossing the Imja River, we reach Pangboche. Continuing, we walk through the Imja Valley before finally ascending to Dingboche, a gorgeous village with potato, barley, and buckwheat fields. Overnight in guest house.

After breakfast, we head up to Chhukung valley. As we climb, the village in the distance looks beautiful, and we also have an awesome view of several of the world’s highest peaks. Reaching Chhukung valley, we are in awe and how beautiful it is. It is so perfectly nestled in the Himalayas, surrounded on all sides by snowy mountains. The somewhat strenuous roundtrip hike is well worth it. Afterwards, we have lunch and have free time to wander around Dingboche. Overnight at guest house.

The distance from Dingboche to Lobuche is short, but in the high altitude the walk takes slightly longer. After walking for a couple of hours on the gentle flat trail, we arrive at our lunch spot in Thukla, located at the bottom of the Khumbu Glacier. After lunch, the trail is steep up to the Everest Memorials, monuments of those people who have lost their lives during Everest expeditions. After we visit, we head to Lobuche through the gentle flat trail. The sunset view of Mt. Nuptse in the evening is marvelous. Overnight at guest house.

We are full of excitement today, ready to make our dreams come true. We have an early breakfast because we’ve got a long day ahead of ourselves. The trail to Gorakshep is mostly uphill and rocky. After having lunch and dropping our bags off at Gorakshep, we head to Everest Base Camp with our day pack. The trail is a steep, rocky incline. Everest Base Camp is located on the Khumbu Glacier, where we can see infamous Khumbu Icefall, Mt. Khumbutse and Pumori, though we are unable see Mt. Everest. After we take some snaps and celebrate, we head back down to Gorakshep. Overnight at guest house.

After waking up early in the morning, we begin our climb to Kala Patthar. This is a major highlight of the Everest Base Camp Trek! The breath-taking views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and many others are right in front of us. After enjoying our time and taking some photos at Kala Patthar, we come back to Gorakshep and have a nice big breakfast. After, we descend to Lobuche. The trail goes downhill via the Khumbu Glacier. Eventually, we arrive to Pheriche. Overnight at guesthouse.

In the morning, we have breakfast and head down to Namche Bazaar. After walking about one hour, we are back on our previous trail that we took on the way up to Everest Base Camp. The trail is mostly downhill, except a quick climb to Tengboche. If you want, we can revisit Tengboche monastery. After the lunch, we climb up to Kyanjuma for one and half hours and enjoy the gentle flat trail to Namche Bazaar. Tonight, we celebrate our successful Everest Base Camp Trek!!

After having breakfast, we start head down to Lukla. We enjoy the last views of Mt. Everest, already looking forward to seeing it again. We cross six suspension bridges and pass several Sherpa villages before arriving in Lukla. After crossing the highest of the bridges, we walk for another 3 hours to Phakding and stop for lunch. We arrive in Lukla after about 2.5 hours of walking after Phakding. Time to enjoy the last night of the Himalaya in Lukla!

We have breakfast and then walk to Tenzing-Hillary airport and fly back to Kathmandu in the morning, enjoying the scenery during the flight. We’ll have a celebratory dinner in Kathmandu in the evening. Otherwise, the rest of the day is yours. Overnight in hotel.
