One of the most important festival of Nepal, Maha Shivaratri, is celebrate all over the country. This major festival of the Hindu is celebrated as the wedding night of Lord Shiva and Parvati. This festival fall on the new moon day of the month of February/March. The Hindu devotees worship and offer their respects to Lord Shiva on the day. Huge crowds gather in the Pashupatinath temple and other Shiva temple to celebrate the Lord’s wedding night. Major celebrations is done in the evening. People light a holy fire in front of the temples of Lord Shiva. Devotees brings logs and wood from their home to burn in the fire. They make round around the bonfire chanting OM NAMAH SIWAYA and HAR HAR MAHADEV. It is belived that keeping the half burned woods or sticks from that holy fire protects the house from evil.
